HOW TO FIX FLAKING PAINT & WALL COMPOUND
A look at a wall repair using ROLLINGDOG™ Tools
Due to movement in the foundation of a building, paint and mud in certain areas can crack and start to fall off. In order to fix it, the old mud needs to be removed and the area sanded down before reapplying new mud and getting it ready to paint.
Tools Used in This Repair
A proper wall repair requires the right tools at each stage. Here's what we recommend:
- Scraping & removal: Use a stiff putty knife or scraper to remove loose mud and flaking paint cleanly without damaging the surrounding surface.
- Sanding: Sand the repaired area smooth before reapplying compound. Shop our sanding tools including sanding sponges, hand sanders, and sanding kits.
- Applying new compound: A flexible taping knife or joint knife gives you the control needed to feather compound smoothly into the surrounding wall.
- Finishing & priming: Once dry and sanded, the area is ready for primer and paint. Use a quality roller cover and brush for a seamless finish.
